In the Sea of Azov poachers caught fish for 2.4 million UAH
Operative employees of the Azov-Black Sea regional administration and border guards from the Genichesk department found illegally caught fish on board the fishing vessel, the cost of which is estimated at 2.4 million hryvnia, the press center of the Berdyansk border detachment reports.
The incident occurred on the eve, April 18. When the border guards surveyed the vessel returning from fishing from the Azov Sea, they discovered fishing gear such as “drag” and a significant amount of bull fish.
Representatives of the Genichesky territorial department of fish protection concluded that most of the fish, about 80%, are not subject to fishing.
“In general, the sudo team carried out more than 21 tons of bull fish catch for a total damage amount of 2.4 million hryvnia,” the report said.
A report was sent to the National Police on the discovery of a criminal offense on the grounds of Part 1 of Article 249 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine “Illicit occupation of fish, animal or other aquatic extractive fisheries.”
